Tolani Fatilewa (June 7,1995) better known by his stage name Tolani (styled as Tolaní ), is a Nigerian new school afrobeat artist. He gained popularity in July 2017, when iconic Fela and the beatles recording studio; Abbey roads picked his single "no yawa" as the only African song in the final 5 of the maiden edition of the metro uk and abbey road studios' "battle of the bands" contest. Tolani's style of music was described simply by Metro uk writer Malcolm Jack as "feel good afrobeat music with a message...that mixes traditional call and response vocals and chants".

Biography
Tolani was born into a christian Nigerian home and is the last of 3 children. In his early days Tolani says he spent his time listening to a lot of artistes like Boney M, Fela, 50 cent as a result of his father and brother always playing their music.He started out as a rapper at the age of 13 and was part of a three-man group called Mboiz while he was still in high school. The group disbanded in 2011 when he went to Babcock university to study economics. As an under graduate, he kept releasing music and honing his skills as an artist and performer.

Career
After graduating with a bachelors degree in Economics from Babcock university in 2015, he released two songs; "the world" and the second a cover to the popular U.k hit single "dont waste my time" by krept and konan .The songs showed the direction in which his sound was headed, and were released free in August 2015. He followed this up in december 2015, with the release of a grimy afrobeat track he titled "Ajigijaga". After a one year break, he returned with his first official single; No Yawa which earned him a top 5 spot at the 2017 Abbey Road Studios' Battle of the Bands Competition.
